Using Huddles (Team Chat)
Huddles are Rostered's in-app messaging. As a coach you're automatically a member of more than just your team and division channels.
Finding Your Channels
- Tap the Huddles tab at the bottom of the screen
- You'll see every channel you have access to
- Each channel shows the most recent message and how many are unread
Besides the team and division channels covered below, you may see:
- All Coaches: every coach in the club, for the current season
- All Head Coaches: coaches specifically marked as a head coach
- [Division] Coaches: just the coaches within one division
- A whole-club channel, open to every active member: coaches, guardians, athletes, and admins alike
- Any direct messages or Groups you've started or been added to
- A channel for any tournament your team is part of, for the length of that tournament
You can start a new direct message or create a Group yourself from the Huddles tab.
Sending Messages
- Open a channel and tap the message field at the bottom
- Type your message and tap Send
- Use
@followed by a name to mention someone specifically; they get a notification about the mention
Reactions
Long-press any message to react to it, or to see who else has reacted. Rostered does not currently support threaded replies. If you need to respond to one specific message, @mention the person or quote what you're replying to in your own message.
Sharing Photos, Files, and Polls
Tap the + button next to the message field to attach a photo, video, or file, or to create a poll for the channel. See Creating and Managing Polls for how polls work once posted.
Who's in a Channel
A team channel includes the coaches and guardians on that team. A division channel includes everyone across every team in that division. You don't need to add anyone yourself: guardians and coaches are added automatically as they join a team or division, and removed automatically if they leave.
